Here are a few details for when you show up for the first time:

What to Wear? RCN is a relaxed and friendly environment and we want you to feel comfortable. We have no expectations and invite you to come as you are.
What are the times? You can find our our service times by going here. Also take a look at our church calendar under the connect tab by selecting upcoming at RCN to see what is happening.

Parking: We do have visitor spots near the front door for your convenience. If the weather is bad there is a car port you can pull under to drop off the family before you park. Families with children birth to 6th grade: When you first arrive if it is your first time visiting an usher will have you fill out information for our check-in system. This is just one of the many ways we strive to keep our children safe and make sure only the parent who has the check-in sticker can pick up their children. We want you to know that all our volunteers working with children are background checked and take child safety training.

Options for children during service: We believe your children will enjoy their time in Seeker Kids Children’s Ministry, but if you want to keep your children in service with you feel free.  There is infant and toddler nursery available during both Sunday School and worship service. We also have a preschool children’s church as well as children’s worship especially designed for kids up to 4th grade (5th and 6th grade join us in the main service).  On the first Sunday of every month we have family worship.  So, our 1st-6th Graders will stay in worship with their parents.

Hearing Assistance Available: If you are in need of an assisted listening device for our worship time just let an usher know and they will bring you a device.

We Believe that YOU can be set FREE to live a life of holy love!

Freedom is a powerful word. At RCN, we believe that Jesus’ death on the cross and His resurrection have paved the way for us to enter a new relationship with God. This relationship is not based on self-help, nor is it based on laws and rules; rather, it is based on love. We love Christ because He first loved us and shed His blood for our sins. His sacrifice makes it possible for us to be forgiven for all our sins!

This forgiveness is found in Jesus Christ. Although He lived a sinless life, He died as a sacrifice for your sins and my sins. His resurrection to life on the third day demonstrates that we are not forgiven only to die to sin… but to LIVE a life of holy love! Beyond mere forgiveness, we believe that God sets us free from our past so that we can serve Him and others in love.

We Believe that YOU can find PEACE in Jesus Christ!

Talk about “peace” is like weight loss programs–everybody advertises it, but rarely does it live up to the hype. We have discovered that living a life surrendered to Christ fills our hearts and lives with a peace that goes beyond understanding. We find true peace as we delve deeper into God’s Word and grow in His grace. We live daily for Christ and we surrender each day fully to Him.

The peace we speak of is not an end to difficulties or struggles. Sometimes being a believer actually brings struggles upon us, but the joy we have in Christ is unchanging in the midst of the perils of life. As a result, we can rest assured that Jesus, our Advocate and Redeemer, will be faithful to us as walk with Him.

No matter the struggle or difficulty you are going through, we know that Jesus can give you a peace that is eternal and unchanging.

We Recognize that the WORLD is full of BROKENNESS.

We wish it weren’t true, but the evidence that our world is broken beyond measure is all around us. Our world is full of sin and has been since the very fall of humanity. Over the years, the labels people put on sin change, but the core problem remains the same–a broken heart full of sin and separation from our Creator. We admit and confess that, without the transforming work of Christ, we are all hopelessly and eternally broken beyond repair.

We believe that Jesus died to redeem all those who would confess His name so our eyes may see the destruction of sin, and our hearts are full of hope as we look to the Savior of all humanity and place our faith in Him alone.

We Believe that YOU can make a DIFFERENCE in your world!

We hear and respond to the call of Jesus to be salt and light in the world. That begins with being caring and compassionate to those around us, and it means loving those who are rather different from us. Jesus reminds us that, if we only love those who love us, what good is that to us (or to them)? It is only when we love those who most need us that we are truly salt and light.

We believe the church and its members are called to make a difference in the world. Yes, the world is broken, but Jesus died to offer hope and peace. We are called to share that hope in a spirit of love with all humanity! Through missions, we participate in over 150 world areas where compassionate ministries are working to show the love of Christ even in the most difficult situations.

We know that GOD EXISTS and reaches out to us in love!

We know this to be true because of His Word that testifies about Him. We have experienced His presence and His work in our midst as we have grown in His grace each day, and we believe that He is constantly reaching out in love to those who do not yet know Him.

We trust in God’s WORD!

Simply put, the Scriptures are the final authority on matters of salvation and doctrine. The Word of God, as revealed in the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments of the Bible, is both our Hope and our Guide. We believe the Scripture to be divinely inspired and relevant to our world today. As a church, we seek to learn more about the Word of God by studying and reading His Word daily.

We believe God is calling you to a deeper life of HOLINESS!

We believe that as you place your faith in Jesus Christ, you can be set free from your sins in a moment of salvation; however, that is not the end, but just the beginning. We believe God calls believers to grow daily in grace as we walk with Christ. While much of this process of growth happens gradually over time, we also believe that God calls us to full surrender in a moment of entire sanctification of heart and life to Him. When we fully surrender our lives to Him, we allow God complete control of our lives.

We wait eagerly for our LORD’s RETURN

Our hearts are thrilled at the thought of our Savior’s return! He said that He would come again, and we live in eager expectation of His arrival. In the meantime, we make the most of every opportunity to share the Good News of His redeeming work on the cross and His love for all people.

IN GENERAL

The Church of the Nazarene is an orthodox Protestant body that adheres to the ecumenical creeds of the early Christian church. The theology of Methodist founder, John Wesley (1703-91), who integrated the Protestant understanding of grace with themes of holiness and love, is foundational for Nazarene doctrine. Nazarenes emphasize Christian conversion, sanctification and the personal assurance of God’s grace – Wesleyan distinctives that point back to a deeper rootage in continental European pietism. Discipleship is a prominent concern. The Church of the Nazarene  recognizes two sacraments: Christian baptism and Holy Communion.

CHURCH GOVERNMENT

Nazarene polity is a studied compromise between Episcopal and Congregational forms of government. While Nazarenes consider the congregation to be the basic unit of the church, the highest legislative body is the General Assembly, which usually meets every four years.

The General Assembly:

  1. Elects the general superintendents, who serve until the next assembly when they may be re-elected;
  2. Elects a General Board which meets annually and is  composed of representatives of the General Assembly; and
  3. Decides denominational issues, many of which are incorporated into the church Manual.

Congregations belong to districts, which hold annual assemblies and are led by elected district superintendents. Congregations call their own pastors subject to the approval of the district superintendent. New ministers are elected to orders by the district assembly and ordained by the presiding general superintendent.

Debbie: FINANCE ASSISTANT

I truly feel blessed to be a baby boomer that grew up on Long Island, NY.  I have been part of the Nazarene church all my life.  From the “Cradle Roll” to now.  My parents have always lived out their faith and walk with God with grace and integrity.  I grew up with three siblings, of whom all I am quite proud of.   I was about 10 when I gave my life to the Lord.  I have not always been faithful, but God is.  His leading and directions in my life have been so evident.   There are two times I can easily recall where God miraculously intervened in my life.  First time as a teen, and a lost ring and then in 2001 when my husband fell off the roof of the house.

I am married to my high school sweetheart, and we have a daughter, son-in-law and two grandsons.  These days our life is all about our family.   My husband and I also enjoy going antiquing.    I like a sense of order and things to be in their place, which is probably why I enjoy bookkeeping.

Kerrie: OFFICE ADMINISTRATOR

Kerrie Russell (not to be confused with the actress!) the only native Texan on staff at RCN. She was born & raised in East Texas & moved to the Dallas area in 2001. She is married to Jeff Russell (not the retired MLB pitcher!) and has three children, one son-in-law, and one granddaughter. Kerrie joined the RCN staff in November 2016. Over the years, she volunteers in children’s ministry, was District Children’s Quiz Director for six years, and is currently one of the Preteen teachers. She and her husband are also involved in the Young Adult ministry at RCN.
